Hellbrutes....

I finally got a minute to start laying down some skin color on my Budget Hellbrutes.  Banged them out in Duck Egg Green to start with and will be adding some shading and washes to deepen the green and skin tones.  Highlighting will be in the future some time.  Glad to be finally getting some more color on these, as I am "that Guy" that runs all five as elites with my Berzerker Horde.

On a side note, not sure what is going on with my airbrush.  The fine detail wasn't happening so all the over spray.  It surprised me a bit, and as I was banging these out I couldn't find the problem.  I wasn't too upset as I plan on bringing a lot more colors into the armor plates, but am already breaking the brush down and soaking everything to start with.

The Grind and Magnets.....

So definitely not going as fast as I would like it, but I am learning a lot along the way.  I want to magnetize as many options as I can for each Knight, however I need to figure out how to magnetize each option as I go.   The balance between the magnet holding the weight of an arm or torso, but not destroying the model when it is time to take it apart is still an experiment in progress.

I've decided not to magnetize the shoulders.  They will be under the shoulder armor, so I don't see an advantage to magnetizing them.  The elbows I'm trying to magnetize now, and the options for the weapons.  I do have the waist magnetized and am debating weather to magnetize the feet to the base or glue them on to a scenic base.

I don't see an advantage even in transportation to magnetize the feet, though I have seen several Knights magnetized that way.

I'm not the fastest model builder obviously.

Finally the Heads...

Some day I will figure out how to not have so many projects in so many different fields on the go at one time.  Finally have the heads for these together.  Going to be magnetizing as much as I can on these guys.

More Bigger Projects...

Keeping with my theme of "too many projects on the go at one time" I have added another one.

I'm about half way through construction on these guys. Going to leave most of the Armor plates off for easier painting.  So far the legs are pretty much done.  Trying to decide on how much I'm going to magnetize for flexibility and transportability.  I know I'm only half way through assembly, but already have too many color schemes bouncing around my head.

I really need to start cutting down on projects...

More Base Work

I'm starting to experiment with some different basing techniques and see what the out come is after all the priming and painting is done.  On these I've used cork, crushed walnut shells, crushed shell, old GW resin basing pieces and some Vallejo Rough Grey Pumice.  I think if there was a kitchen sink available I would have thrown that in too.

Now to get some primer on these guys and some Paint.

Rogue Trader 8th Edition?

So, along with many many other started and in progress projects, I've decided to dust off more 10,000 year old Rogue Trader Traitor Marines to get started on.  With the new Thousand Sons having access to lots of flamers, I thought a whole unit of them would work, and look cool.

These have the lower bodies of old Tzeentch Flamers, even the champion's power fist will actually be somewhat useful now.  The old descriptions of Flamers have them bounding around on their flaming fungus bodies, so I have tried to mimic that with raising them off the base a little with posts.

I'm also trying out some new basing methods with these guys.  They are on 32mm laser cut mdf basses with cork that I am going to carve some more detail into.  I added some old GW resin basing pieces that I will try to blend into the rest of the base with some sand and paste.

Now to let the glue dry and start another project......

Slaaneshy Rhino Start

Even with 8th Edition dropping in a few weeks, I've decided to keep plowing on with my Chaos Space Marines that I've been kicking around since 2nd Edition.  My Noise Marines have never had a dedicated Rhino before, so I got started on one.

The side doors and front plate are from Kromlech. I really like them, but they do take a bit of finagling to get into place.  I had to shave a bit off the bottom of the side doors with a hobby knife and I was to worried to put the front plate on without some support under it.  The gaps I've tried to fill with green stuff and put a partial skin on the top...that will be getting some more attention before the priming commences.
